Turismo: Corsi IANTD in Capoliveri (Isola d'Elba)

Location
Isola d’Elba has been a nature reserve for several years and this is most apparent while immersed in the aquatic realm. You will marvel at the clear blue waters where schools of small fishes, often barracudas, moray eels, conger eels and groupers may be seen. With a little luck, you can even encounter a sunfish.
The underwater landscape is quite varied due to an abundance of caverns, tunnels and deep drop offs. A keen eye will find copious amounts of nudibranches and other molluscs with fields of anemones and ascidians and is perfect for macro photographers. A short boat ride will take you to areas where red corals will be found and one stunning site offers red gorgonian fans in the 30 – 50 metre depth range.
In the area is a small airplane wreck and a 30 year old sunken freighter are easily accessible from shore for wreck enthusiasts.
Navigation at dives sites is almost always very easy and currents are seldom.
Most of the dive sites are located very close to our resort and the boat trip with our RIBs normally takes less than ten minutes. Some of the dives sites further away can be reached from shore with our minibus.
We offer up to five dive trips daily catering for early risers, a later dive for holiday makers who wish to relax from the rigours of work and night dives.
U/W diving education
Isola d’Elba is the right place for every level of IANTD diving courses.
Intro dives are a relaxed introduction to the wonders of the aquatic realm and are conducted in the enchanting Mediterranean Sea by our experienced instructor team.
Diving courses from beginner to professional level can be done according to IANTD standards. The successful candidate is awarded the certification and this certification is recognised worldwide.
All levels of continuing education is offered according to IANTD standards for those who are interested in deep air and mixed gas diving.
The Equipment
Our regulators are maintained to the highest standards by authorised technicians and come with an alternate air source, SPG and depth gauge.
The one-piece 5mm neoprene suits are provided with a separate hood, as well as wrist- and ankle zippers for easy fitting.
Torches are also available for hire.
According to your air consumption 8, 10, 12 and 15 litre steel tanks are available for use.
DIN and Yoke valves with single and double port are available. Of course you are also welcome to bring your own tanks.
Our three compressors (BAUER and L&W) always supply pure air to international standards and are maintained according to manufacturers specifications.
Our Boats
Three boats are offered for your comfort.
Our big RIB with a length of approx 6 metres (year of construction 2004) is equipped with a 90 HP outboard motor and provides space for up to ten divers. The boat is purpose built and is rigged out for scuba units.
A boat with a 25 HP outboard motor provides space for up to eight divers. Experienced groups have the opportunity to charter this boat. Under Italian law a boat licence is only required for engines with more than 40 HP so this boat may be skippered without boat licence.
Our small RIB is equipped with a 9.9 HP outboard motor and can take five divers. Experienced groups also have the opportunity to charter this boat.
The Accommodation
Villa Morcone consists of four apartment houses and two bungalows with apartments for 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 Persons. All apartments are located in a 10.000 square metres Mediterranean garden with beautiful view over Morcone bay, approx. 150 metres away from the beach.
All apartments have either a terrace or a balcony, mostly with sea view.
They are equipped with modern fitted kitchen, bathroom with WC and shower, Satellite-TV, safe and heater. All flats are furnished individual and stylish. Bedding is provided. Enough parking spaces is available. Dogs are welcome.
Our resort is within two minutes walking distance from accommodation.

Of course we assist you with reservations for all types of accommodation, no matter whether you want to stay in a hotel, an apartment or at a camp site. Four apartments are connected to the resort.
Morcone
From Morcone bay, surrounded by macchia-slopes and pine trees with its crystal clear water, you can see fantastic sunsets with the silhouettes of the islands Corsica and Montecristo in the background.
In Morcone there are two beach bars, restaurants with pizzeria, surf school and motorboat rental as well as shopping opportunities. Deck chairs and sun-shades can be rent on the beach.
A shuttle bus goes to the next city Capoliveri (approx. 3 km) and to the surrounding beaches from March to September.
Isola d’Elba
Isola d’Elba has a total surface of 223,5 square km. The distance to the Italian coast, the foothills of Piombino, is approx. 5 nautical miles and approx. 27 nautical miles to the island Corsica. The island is made of crystal rocks and is lined by a cost with lots of bays.
The total cost line has a length of 147 km. The biggest distance in north-south direction from Capo Vita to Punta Della Calamita is 18,2 km and in east-west direction from Capo Ortano to Sedia di Napoleon is 27,5 km. The island has a fully developed road network with approx. 145 km main roads and approx. 80 km panorama roads.
The Journey
You can get to Elba by car, train or air plane.
There is an airport on Elba, but only few airlines fly to Elba, mainly from Munich and Zurich (Intersky). Many airlines fly to Pisa from several European cities, often very cheap flights are available (p. e. HLX and Ryanair). The transfer from Pisa to Elba can be done by train and ferry and takes approx. three hours.
You can get straight to Elba by train, but it takes a very long time and is also expensive.
We offer a shuttle service from Elba port (Portoferraio) or airport to our resort if you arrive in Elba by train or air plane
Getting to Elba by car is very easy and has the advantage of being mobile. Every 30 minutes car ferries go from mainland (Piombino) to Elba (Portoferraio) during daytime in high season. The car ferry costs approx. 30. - Euro for one car and one person. Timetables and exact prices can be found under www.moby.it or under www.toremar.it.
You can also make online reservations for the car ferry, but this is only recommended in August.
On Elba you find us after arrival in Portoferraio harbour by following the traffic signs to Porto Azzuro. After approx. 2 km follow the traffic signs to Capoliveri. In Capoliveri follow the traffic signs to Morcone. There is only one main road in Morcone and we are located on the main road.
